You're Blocking My Pores /VIDEO: ASHER ROTH - BE BY MYSELF (FEAT. CEE-LO)

Another dope as cheese moment. Found it on Blind I. Thanks Suli.

Asher Roth is from Morrisville, Pennsylvania. He is currently signed to a joint venture between Scooter Braun's Schoolboy Music and SRC Records.

Straight from the horses mouth: "The first CD I ever bought was Dave Matthews Band's 'Crash'...That is how suburban I am...I finally got into hip hop in '98 when I heard the Annie sample with Jay-Z....When I wrote my 'A Milli' freestyle, that was me listening to 10 years of hip hop and not relating to it at all. Like, Damn I don’t sell coke. Damn, I don’t have cars or 25-inch rims. I don't have guns. I finally got to a point where I had the confidence to do this thing myself, and I was making music for me. And it turns out, a lot of people feel the same way I do. I was always from the outside looking in. Hip-hop has always been very influential in the ‘burbs, but it’s just a matter of where we could relate to it. You find a lot of kids that are really confused. You look at them and they’re dressed out of character. They don’t look right. I figured out, I don’t have to dress this way, but I can still love hip-hop."

Scratch That Out, I've Got Another Idea.

Pharrell has changed his mind about his tatts, and he's removing every last one of them. He says he doesn't want any of them. And so laser surgery it is, which I've personally heard is a lot more painful than getting the actual tattoos. "Laser treatment b**ches! Extra crispy," the rapper wrote on his blog of the procedure. "See, no skin graft here, just pure laser pain. This is our own version of Mythbusters! Laser is the new primer." Hey, a guys got the right to change his mind right?? But damn.

More than a Grand

For DJs with a touch of class (that still spin), and a big budget to blow, Garder Post offers the Baby Grand Master. Its features and specs look like they were written in Danish and the mixer looks like it was pulled from an alien spacecraft. It has an ultra (ULTRA) white reflective projection surface. Oh, and it’s built into a Baby Grand Piano. Gorgeous and intimidating, I’d be afraid to get my fingers anywhere near it (without scrubbing them with bleach first). The 12-inch subwoofer, hydraulic legs and lid and neon details puts it out of your price range, so you’ll just have to drool over these pics:

Can't Get Them Out Of My Head.

I guess it's time I finally give these two lime light in the House of Herb. Without a doubt Maxwell Drummey and D.A. Wallach, who together make up Chester French, have this song running through people's heads all day. At least if you watch MTV religiously like I do. D.A. from Milwaukee and Drummey from Boston discovered each other while attending Harvard University and quickly found a lot of shared ground in musical tastes and philosophies. They named their band after sculptor Daniel Chester French and created their sound which they like to categorize as British Northern Soul. Herb likes.

SO I WAS ASKED.....

What has Kelis been doing? Because I'm such a fanatic, and so this is what I found. She and Nas went out to lunch. And I can finally see the bump forreal. Makes me happy. But one thing I sortof find disturbing....Who the heck is putting dye in her hair while she's in her second tri-mester of pregnancy? Thats a big no-no.

HERB LUUV THE KIDS: COOL KIDS PENNIES VIDEO

Reminiscing.....Inglish comes to me in the student lounge at school and says..."I think I'm gonna quit school and make beats." I respond, "I don't know if that's such a good idea, maybe you should finish school first". He reply's, "I can always come back to school, wanna hear some stuff I made?"...I answer, "Sure let's see what this is about." In conclusion, after an a bit of head bobbing and an unexpected heargasm, I told him, "You're awesome and I think you're absolutely right"...This was a little over 3 years ago and the evolution of the Cool Kids is at its' peak. The advancement of these two in such a short period of time is completely bonkers....but I guess when you make good music, and you've got the tools to get it heard, the rest is easy. The Cool Kids posted their new "Pennies" video yesterday on their blog, and Inglish was nice enough to give a proper introduction...Thanks Chuck, we appreciate it.

Don't Call It A Comeback!

KANYE HEARTS LEGO......but what 80's baby doesn't?...I wouldn't call it a comback, lets just call it creating variety... Clearly LEGO is still thinking about us (the one's who have been there from the beginning), and it's nice to not be forgotton. There are more than toys to choose from now.  They've tapped into the fashion market with jewelry, brooches, and belts.  You can find the LEGO heart  in an assortment of 3 colors (red, black, and rainbow) priced at $65 on deenandricky.com.  Also look for Lego belts in 20 different colors priced at $75.

I first found silver LEGO rings on gizmodo.com. LOVE LOVE. They are unquestionably a great accessory to add to a dapperishly flashy wardrobe. There are 3 different models, the single block going for $140, the double block going for $151, and the quad block going for $165.

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONSES

By now you may have heard the news that Nas and Kelis are expecting their first child together. If not, I'm glad I'm the first to tell you, being that they are indubitably my favorite artists. Kelis, 29 is said to be in her first trimester, more than likely in the 3rd month, because there's already a noticeable bump in the belly. A close friend of the couple, who I'm assuming to be Dania Ramirez; Kelis' best friend, says "She's carrying Hip Hop Royalty". The new addition is to make the Jones' a 4some as Nas, 35, already has a 15 year old daughter, Destiny. It has been reported that Kelis is worried about her size 8 figure but is more than happy to have a baby. She says she wants a bunch of kids and to keep slim she just does a lot of TAE BO.

who is that in the kitchen?

Sample. Drum. Horn. Piano. Bass. Loop. Pretty random words that don't necessarily speak a customary language to most of us, but for Producer Cavan Jackson, as known as ULTRA, this is a pretty habitual form of expression. If you don't know him very well you may think he's considerably the quiet kind, but in actuality, ULTRA is quite opposite of inaudible. As cliche as it may sound, the truth is, he eats, breathes, and sleeps music. Lyrics, he's not so much into. And for those who have heard his beats, many say they tell stories alone without lyrics. I like to categorize ULTRAs' musical genius into something I call HEARSEE. It offers more than a tune but an experience.

Have a listen.
